That is a very old version of Android, I test on my phone which has 4.1.2! I guess that technically kivy still supports that but I guess it might have bugs or things have changed too much to cause the differences.
RuinRaider basically contains the precursors of the code that's in yapyg now. I will check if I am doing something weird with the widget creation in the app, maybe it is something there!

I tried the demo but it doesn't work on my phone. Each example loads up with only joystick and menu buttons, but the rest of the screen is black.

DeleteSomething tells me it could work. I have not come yet at a kivy app that didn't work on 2.3. Ruin Raider also works, was that done with yapyg, too?
